Volunteer Display Gardens

The Volunteer Display Gardens are public gardens located on the grounds of WSU NWREC. They are open to visitors year round, from dawn to dusk.
The gardens occupy about 10 acres of land, and are maintained by volunteers from several western Washington gardening groups including:
The purpose of the Garden is to provide educational opportunities for the public through viewing and hands-on gardening experiences.
Driving Directions:
From I-5 South:
Take the Kincaid Street Exit (Exit 226).
From the exit ramp, turn west (left) towards downtown Mount Vernon.
Turn right at the first light (Third Street), wrapping around the edge of downtown Mount Vernon to SR 536.
Cross the Skagit River Bridge and travel west through West Mount Vernon for approximately 2 miles.
NWREC is on the left (south side of highway), 1/3 mile past the Avon Allen Road / SR 536 intersection. The gardens are just west of NWREC.
From I-5 North:
Take the Hwy 20 exit in Burlington, and travel towards Anacortes.
Go west about 3 miles.
Turn left at the stop light onto Avon Allen Road.
Continue about 2 miles until the SR 536 intersection.
Turn right at the stoplight onto SR 536.
NWREC is on the left (south side of highway), 1/3 mile past the Avon Allen Road / SR 536 intersection. The gardens are just west of NWREC.
Parking for the Garden is immediately west of the main building, in the gravel lot. |
